Statement of Faith
We Are A Covenant Church - We are people of the book. That book is the Bible. Central to the life of the Evangelical Covenant Church, the Bible reveals God and God’s intent for us and our world. By it we discover our identity and mission as individuals and as a church. By it we are brought to new life in Jesus Christ, life in God’s kingdom. The Covenant Church was begun by people who were known as “readers” because of their deep love for the Bible. By reading the Bible both individually and in corporate worship, they sought to understand it and to allow it to bear fruit in their lives as do we now.
The Triune God
We believe in the Triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the final authority for Christian life and faith.
We believe that Jesus was a real person, fully God and fully human. He lived a perfect life, then died on a cross, paying the penalty for our sins. On the third day Jesus rose from the grave, conquering death.
We believe that repentance from sin and belief in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord is the only way to salvation.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: the saved will be raised to life, and the lost to judgment. [Hebrews 9:27]
Baptism | Lord’s Supper
We believe in the Biblical teachings of water baptism and the regular celebration of The Lord’s Supper.
We believe God has supernaturally endowed every believer with spiritual gifts and a unique purpose, and that the Holy Spirit empowers us to live out that purpose through the Church.
We believe that the Church is the living Body of Christ on earth. As members of His Body we exist to celebrate the living God, cultivate personal growth in Christ, and communicate Christ’s love to the world.
